Assistant Manager (Valuations), Corporate Actuarial

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for managing RBC Local Valuation Work. The position plays a critical role in regulatory reporting, ALM and support experience study work. The assistant manager will collaborate closely with Capital, Modelling, Finance, and Risk Management teams

JOB DUTIES

  • Perform monthly and quarterly reserve valuations, including IBNR, reserve movements, reserve sensitivities and premium cut-off analysis
  • Conduct ALM analysis, including cash flow projections, liability duration, and guarantee rate (BEI / Implicit IF) across actuals, forecasts, and business plans
  • Calculate and monitor local profit and liability risk charge under RBC for actuals, forecasts, and planning purposes
  • Prepare and review OIC regulatory reports related to reserves and RBC (e.g., Chor 2100, province report, CV policies, actuarial reports, RBC filings, reconciliation from RBC to TFRS 17, and reserve movement analysis)
  • Support audit requirements by providing detailed analysis, documentation, and technical clarifications
  • Deliver ad hoc analyses and actionable insights to support management decision-making, including experience studies

Qualification

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science /Statistics/ Mathematics/ Computer Science.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of actuarial experience
  • Actuarial Exams: Good progress on Actuarial exams
  • Competency: Solid understanding of the actuarial control cycle, including valuations, modelling and assumption setting.
  • Languages: Strong communication in English
  • Computer: Prophet, SQL and MS Excel-VBA are desirable
